About this Experiment
WhatsApp Chat Viewer turns the flat .txt file that WhatsApp's "Export chat" produces back into a readable conversation. Load the file and messages appear as familiar green and white bubbles — your messages right-aligned in WhatsApp green, the other person's on the left — under a teal header, just like the app.
Features
- Faithful parsing — reads the standard
DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM — Sender: Messageexport format, preserving dates, times, and senders. - Inline media — attachments exported alongside the chat render in place: images display inline, videos get a player, and other files become download links.
- Built for huge chats — messages load in chunks of 100 with infinite scroll, so even years-long conversations open instantly.
- Completely private — the file is parsed locally in your browser. No upload, no server, no analytics on your conversation. Close the tab and it's gone.
Use Cases
Re-reading an archived conversation, reviewing an exported chat for record-keeping, or simply making a WhatsApp backup human-readable again — without trusting a third-party service with your private messages.
